The National Hunting Reserve of Sierra Espuña covers exactly 14,183 hectares in the Province of Murcia. It was established as a National Hunting Reserve in 1973, Regional Park in 1992. The area is best known for its introduced population of Barbary sheep (Arrui / Aoudad) and resident Wild Boar / Jabali.

The Arrui, Aoudad / Barbary sheep was introduced in Sierra Espuna in 1970. The founder population consisted of 11 males and 24 females brought from several European and African zoos. Populaition growth has been slow, but the population is in 2022 estimated for Espuna at 885 individuals.
